Happy International Women’s Day!!
That time of year has come to celebrate the accomplishments, struggles, hopes, fears and dreams of ladies around the world.
It’s also time to share a music video I directed (and created the concept for) that is an ode to women and girls.
So let’s go behind the scenes for a sec:
When I held auditions for this project, the gals who walked in that door, REALLY wanted the job. They felt sooo connected to the song and to my concept that they brought all their passion in the room with them.
‘Twas a beautiful thing to see.
And the filming day was amazing! The cast was made up of dancers, actors, students, a family, a boxer, Canada’s hip hop queen Michie Mee, journalists (and my mom and one of my sisters can be seen if you don’t blink.)
The artist, Shad, was AMAZING to work with!
International Women’s Day is also about the wonderful men who seek to be supportive of women’s voices.
When I sent him a few different concepts for the video, he immediately chose the one that he was barely in.
He created this hip hop song for women, and loved that this particular concept featured women from all walks of life.
Check out “Keep Shining” and share it with the wonderful women in your life.
