Hey VideoStar!
You know how sometimes life lessons have a habit of showing up in our biz? Well today you’re going to learn all about how to turn Video Lemons into Lemonade.
We’ve heard the old saying before. And we know that it’s a good idea to sway towards optimism when the proverbial s*^% hits the fan.
But it’s not until you’re actually in the situation, when you find out what you’re made of. So much of life, biz AND making videos is about what you do when things aren’t going your way.
When glitches happen, when life throws you curve balls, when you press record and start sweating buckets… What do you do?
I filmed this little video for you on the road, while “stranded” in San Francisco. Have a watch, and make sure to leave a comment below letting me know how YOU approach YOUR (Video) Lemons.
BTW, since I was away from my gear, and I wanted to rock a video for you, I made due with what I had.
See how you don’t need to have high tech, complicated gear to make your videos? The content and your energy go a LONG way!
For this bad boy, I used what I had: my iphone 4s, natural daylight and my earbuds for my microphone.
Easy peasy.
Okay, now it’s YOUR turn. Go ahead and join the convo below. Say hi and let me know how YOU react when you press record, and things don’t go your way. Do you freak out, laugh at your mistake, get more nervous, get hard on yourself, take it out on the camera?
Do tell.
And as always…
Dream up,
Sarah Michelle Brown
Your Virtual Video Director
Thanks for the encouragement — I love how you make it look eas!
My pleasure Stephanie! Mind if I ask what stage you’re at? Have you been pressing record? Hiding from the camera? Do tell. 🙂
Love it! Thanks for this Sarah! I realize a lot with this. Generally I try to make all of my video “snippets’ between 1 minute & 90 seconds. i would just start all over again & this has made me realize that I can take all the best parts of the videos and piece them together, which I will do until I get better & better & better☺️. So I’ve realized that by watching this & makes me less susceptible to giving up.
Yayayayay Velma! Yes indeed. Video isn’t about being perfect, always getting it right. It’s about being clever and putting the best parts together. You can soooo do this, lady. 🙂
Sooo! My issues??? When I problem occurs, I nervously laugh and then start talking to myself like no one can hear it!!!
Jackie, first up… you ROCK! And my first instinct on this makes me wonder if there’s a way to transform this habit into something super comical in your videos. Can you hone this habit and actually USE it in your videos? Or does it completely go off the rails and should never be seen by anyone in any way? 🙂
