I’ll be frank, the no “editing video” to me can feel like leaping without a net.

Personally, I LOVE editing. I find it creative and fun, and you can really tell a little story, mix things up and add things like music and extra clips (b-roll). Yep, I nerd out in the edit suite.

Now, having said that, I totally get that editing can be the thing that will keep you from even pressing record in the first place.

The intimidation factor of editing can stop you in your tracks.

You’ve spoken and I’ve listened.

Today’s video is dedicated to every entrepreneur who has decided that they don’t want to edit. Whether it’s a time thing, a learning curve thing, a tech-fear thing or a money thing – sometimes you just want to press record and post.

This video is chock full of tips to help you make the No Editing video.

And… I intentionally filmed this with the intention of “no editing”, so you could see my tips in actual practice. (This was take number six.)

Check it out:

Some quick goodies:

  • Recording videos that need to flow from start to finish (with no editing) can take a while to achieve.
  • If you find yourself at take 20, wondering “what the heck??”, fear not, it’s par for the course.
  • If you’re not accustomed to public speaking, trying to nail videos in one take can add extra pressure. So while you save time in the edit suite, your on-camera experience could feel extremely challenging.
  • Editing offers a safety net so you can make mistakes and then string the best bits together.
  • But that No Editing video certainly has its merits. It gives your tribe a completely uncut version of YOU and saves you time after the fact.

I almost always edit, so I feel less pressure in the moment while I’m filming. Then I invest more time in the edit suite to put it all together.

No one way will work for everyone, so make sure that you give yourself time to experiment and see what works best for you.

If you’re keen to give editing a whirl, for entrepreneurs, I highly recommend that you download Screenflow* (for Mac). It’s user-friendly, intuitive and takes away many techie concerns.

If you’re on a PC, word on the street is that Camtasia is the way to go for that user-friendly experience.

Okay, now it’s your turn superstar!

Leave a comment below and let me know if you’ve tried to “nail” your videos from start to finish, how it goes for you and if you think editing will help alleviate your on-camera stress.

I can’t wait to see what you have to say!!!

Until next time…
